Hi, I’m Hannah Schoenman.
I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing fully remote, telehealth therapy to clients throughout New York and Pennsylvania — helping people who feel disconnected from themselves after years of putting everyone else first.
My story…
I've always been fascinated by people — not just by what they're struggling with, but by what shaped them. I've spent my life asking questions, noticing patterns, and wondering why two people can go through something similar and carry it so differently.
Long before I became a therapist, I was the person trying to understand what was happening beneath the surface — why certain relationships felt so complicated, why some experiences stay with us long after they're over, why so many of us learn to put everyone else first and lose track of ourselves in the process.
That curiosity has only deepened over time, and this work has taught me one thing above all else: people make sense once you understand their story.
I've yet to meet someone who's "too much," "too broken," or "beyond help." I've met people who learned to read a room before trusting their own instincts. People who became experts at people-pleasing because it once kept them safe. People who learned to disconnect from themselves just to get through hard things. People carrying stories that didn't even start with them.
I genuinely believe people already carry the wisdom they need — it's often just buried under years of people-pleasing, self-doubt, or simply adapting to survive. And when we understand the experiences and relationships that shaped us, shame starts to loosen its grip.
I've found that curiosity changes everything — not the kind that analyzes or judges, but the kind that slows down, asks better questions, and helps us understand instead of assume. It's also taught me there's rarely just one way forward. Sometimes the answer isn't trying harder — it's seeing things through a different lens entirely.
I'm naturally creative and love solving complex problems. When someone feels stuck, I look at the situation from different angles, connect pieces that felt unrelated, and help them see possibilities they hadn't considered before. Together, we challenge old assumptions and find an approach that actually feels like you.
When self-judgment gets replaced with real curiosity, people soften. They reconnect with themselves. They stop asking "What's wrong with me?" and start asking, "Given everything I've been through... of course this makes sense."
There's something incredibly meaningful about watching a client reach that moment — pausing and saying, "I've never thought about it that way before." Those moments are why I love this work.
What is therapy with me actually like?
I'm not the therapist who's going to silently nod for fifty minutes while you wonder what I'm thinking. I'll ask thoughtful questions, notice patterns you may not see yet, and offer honest observations with warmth and compassion. I'll challenge you when it's helpful — and together, we'll make sense of what once felt overwhelming.
I've always believed people already carry the wisdom they need. It's just often buried under old patterns, people-pleasing, or years spent adapting to survive. My role isn't to tell you what to do — it's to help quiet the noise so you can reconnect with yourself and learn to trust your own voice again.
I'll laugh with you. I'll sit with you in the hard moments. I'll celebrate your wins. And when shame or old survival strategies are running the show, I'll gently challenge them — with compassion, not criticism.
I'm naturally curious about more than just the situation that brought you here. I want to understand you — your story, what shaped you, what matters most to you, and who you are beneath the patterns that once helped you survive.
I'm also a resourceful, creative thinker. When you feel stuck, I won't keep asking the same questions in different ways and hope something changes. I'll connect dots across experiences that may have always felt unrelated and help you explore possibilities you hadn't considered. Sometimes that means understanding the deeper "why." Sometimes it's a practical tool that fits who you are. Sometimes it's simply finding the one perspective that makes everything click.
Clients often tell me they feel deeply seen and safe enough to be completely honest. I don't think that's because I have all the answers — it's because I genuinely care about understanding the whole person in front of me, not just what they're struggling with.
The best therapy, in my experience, balances challenge with compassion — validating your experience while also helping you move past the fears and old strategies that may no longer be serving you.
Over time, I've become deeply committed to helping people strengthen their intuition, reconnect with their values, and make decisions from a grounded, confident place — not from fear or old conditioning. Because when people start trusting themselves again, everything shifts: relationships get healthier, decisions get clearer, boundaries get easier, and life starts to feel like their own.
That's the work I feel honored to do.

Outside the therapy room…
You'll usually find me somewhere outdoors — hiking, backpacking, or up a mountain (bonus points if there's a headstand involved at the summit).
Before I became a Social Worker, I trained as a 200-hour registered yoga teacher, Reiki I & II practitioner, and certified Wilderness First Responder — proof that my curiosity about the mind-body connection doesn't stay confined to the office.
I grew up in South Florida, spent years chasing water skiing and snow skiing in equal measure, and I'm still a sucker for a good musical and a decent tennis match.
These days I'm putting down roots on Long Island with my two kids, husband, dog, and two cats.
